Plenty of people are working from home. Sometimes working from home can mean endless snacks, cuddles with the pups, and slack off central [the dream]. Other times it can mean face in the computer for 9+ hours, overwhelming workload, learning new processes, training, system issues, calls from your clients/staff/boss at any time of the day…
BLURRED BOUNDARIES
Boundaries definitely become blurred in a time like this. It is not a secret, we are at a complete turning point economically and businesses are being affected. Big time. Lay offs- the employees left have an overwhelming work load. Or we may feel obligated to go above and beyond for the company we work for. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is easy to tare down every boundary along the way leaving ourselves depleted.
BODY AND AURA
We have two parts of us that power up to drive us forward and protect us. We have the body: the inner strength, our focus, our will, our means of doing. Then we have the Aura: imagine a bubble surrounding you wherever you go that filters out the things that don’t even deserve to makes its way to the body [it filters out the shit]. The body is dealing with and doing so much right now that we need to make sure our Aura is strong and working for us as well. One way to strengthen your Aura? Building boundaries.
Make it a priority to build boundaries to strengthen your Aura. Eventually the boundary will be something that automatically filters out stressful things that don’t need to make it all the way to the body.
WORKING FROM HOME WITH BOUNDARIES
Do you usually work 9-5? Work 9-5. DO NOT OPEN THAT EMAIL AFTER 5pm. We are not all in positions that this specific example applies to, but you can apply this concept of building boundaries to any position.
Take breaks, take deep breaths, have a designated place in your house for work, turn your phone on do not disturb whenever you need to (this is my new favorite thing), check out when it’s time to check out and go about the rest of your day for YOU.
It’s amazing if you want to be there for other, support others, give away pieces of yourself for the greater good. Shout out to you if that resonates with you. BUT try not to give all of you away.
