LETS TALK ABOUT MANTRA??
This week in class I am introducing mantras; or positive affirmations. Something to you can say to your self that is kind, supportive, or healing.
Why? Why do we need to say kind things to ourselves?
Our neuronal network is developed by what we think + what we surround ourselves with. If you surround yourself with positivity, success, ambition – that “positive” connection in your brain is going to grow stronger + stronger + stronger. This works as the vice versa. If you’re surrounded by “negativity”- judgement, unhappiness, abuse- that network in your brain becomes stronger. Which ever network is strongest is your auto pilot. It’s how you think most of the time.
When we start to practice mantra we begin to strengthen the neuronal network in our heads that we probably would rather have control when we are on autopilot. We begin to strengthen the acceptance, the empathy, open mindedness, grace, non harming, generosity, kindness, love, etc. when we think about ourselves + others.
When our mind starts to become a cleaner place to be, we become content. Content with what we have. Content with the world around us. Content that no one around us will ever be perfect. Content that we are not perfect.
Here is a mantra you can practice on your own:
I am safe
I am strong
I am confident
I am capable
Practice: Sit up nice and tall. If this is hard for you use a chair or perhaps lay on your back. Close your eyes. Repeat to your self 5 times the above mantra either in your head or out loud. After saying the mantra take a few deep breaths before opening your eyes.
